Guide
When the load is too big or too long for a battery alone, a hybrid keeps the generator but changes its job.
The battery supplies the load. When state of charge falls to a set point, the generator starts and runs at a steady, efficient output, charging the battery while the battery keeps supplying the site. At the upper set point the generator stops.
The result is a generator that runs in short, efficient bursts instead of idling for hours at 10 to 20 percent load, which is where diesel engines waste fuel and suffer wet stacking.
Every PulseTrek has a generator input. Plug in the existing generator and set the charge window. See hybrid battery generator systems.
Track generator run hours and fuel delivered before and after. Those two numbers show the saving plainly, and remote monitoring on the battery shows how the load was shared.
Questions answered
It depends on the load profile. Sites with long low-load periods save the most, because that is when a generator would otherwise idle.
No. Most standard generators can recharge a PulseTrek through its generator input.
Only while the generator runs, which is a fraction of the day; nights can be silent.
